Qwikmix™ Tile Adhesive-HS
Qwikmix™ Tile Adhesive – HS (High Strength) is a high quality specially blended polymer modified dry-set adhesive for thin bed wall tiling and tile on tile application.
1. Features and Benefits
Ideal for installation of marble, granite, ceramic and homogeneous tilesfor walls and floors. Suitable substrates are concrete, lightweight concrete block works, water resistant & screeds in dry and damp conditions. It can be used in swimming pools as well as for tiling onto tiled surfaces.
2. Mixing Procedure
- Mix products with the required amount of clean water.
- Mix thoroughly with a mechanical mixer until mixture is homogeneous.
- Allow mixture to stand for 10 minutes for the additives to dissolve.
- Mix again and the mortar is ready to use.
3. Application Procedure
- Ensure substrate is clean, sound and level. Remove loose particles, grease and traces of foreign materials that may affect adhesion.
- Apply the mortar by pressing it firmly against the substrate with a trowel.
- Spread the mortar with the notched edge of trowel over an area that can be tiles within about 10 minutes.
- The tiles should be firmly pressed onto the sub-base and immediately knocked into position.
- To check the tiling works at the beginning of tiling, remove a tile and check the mortar coverage on the back of tile.
- Care should be taken that the tiles are fixed in such a way that the whole backside is covered with fresh mortar.
- For big tiles and tiles with high ridges, applying mortar onto the substrate and back buttering the backside of tiles is recommended for best results.
- Adjustment of tiles is possible within 15 minutes after installation. Gaps for tile joints should be provided depending on the size of tiles used.
4. Storage & Packing
Qwikmix™ is delivered in 20kg bags. Storage life us 6 months if product is kept in sheltered and dry place.
5. Tips
- Ensure that the mortar do not fill more than half the depth of the tile joints.
- Tiling should not be done under extremely hot, windy and rainy conditions to avoid adverse effect on adhesion.
- Do not soak tiles prior to tiling.
- No further addition of water is allowed to unused mortar that has exceeded its pot life or has begun to set.
